'Miss' Ethel, what can I do for you?"
"Well, generally I don't meddle, mainly because I do not care for anyone meddling in my business. But I thought I should share this with you." She paused, looking Bunny straight in the eye. "Yesterday at garden club there was some talk about Tula Wells being back in town. Does your mother know?"
"Yes mam she does. In fact I told her."
There was a moment of shock in 'Miss' Ethel's eyes, calmly she asked, "Was she alright?"
"She didn't really say anything. I ran into Tula at Harrison's Saturday at his grandson's birthday party. I didn't have any idea who Tula who she was. But, it was obvious she knew who I was."
"Well, I'm glad your mother knows. I just didn't want her to run into Tula on the street and not know she was in town."
" 'Miss' Ethel, there is more here than I know. Every time her name is mentioned, there is a mysterious tone and someone inquires about my Mama. If you know something, please tell me."
"I don't know what happened, I just know it unpleasant. That's all I can say."
Bunny found herself for the second time today thanking someone for taking them into their confidence but not telling her the whole story. She walked 'Miss' Ethel to the door and gave her a hug.
Della looked at Bunny as the door closed, but before she say anything Bunny just said, "It is too complicated to explain and would not mean anything to you."
Della gave her a Is-Everything-OK look. Bunny smiled, "Yes, everything is OK."
Bunny returned to her office, what else could happen today?
